After cruising up the Rio Dolce and two overnights on El Golfete, we sailed down the Rio and cleared out at Livingston, first immigration and then to the Capitania del Puerto. A long wait, he was busy that day. A short trip to SAT and then we are off and sailing. It’s a busy harbor,Continue reading “Across Bahia de Amatique”

Arrived in Guatemala
We checked out of Belize at Punta Gorda, after a calm night anchored around Orange Point. Dead calm we motored sixteen nm to Livingston, Guatemala. As we settled, a boat full of port officers pulled up and we began to clear in. Actually kind of fun. We had an escort to ATM and then immigration.Continue reading “Arrived in Guatemala”
Motoring (Limping) to Refuge at Placencia
The boat was running on the starboard engine only. The port engine did not start – we discovered later that the started motor had self-destructed in a spectacular and violent and convincing way. This starter was never going to turn again. It was a hard short from battery to ground and the relay was reallyContinue reading “Motoring (Limping) to Refuge at Placencia”
Sailed the Yucatan Channel
We waited at Marina del Sol, Isla Mujeres for a few days while a strong north front swept through. It was nice to be in the Makacax Lagoon, instead of out suffering in the big harbor. Safe and comfortable, not dragging anchor with a dozen other boats. The grass in the harbor is poor holding.Continue reading “Sailed the Yucatan Channel”

Moment by moment discovery
While most of North America is under freezing temperatures here in Belize it “dropped to 78.” And, the wind has been playing with us. While we have been staying in a hotel on the beach with the boat anchored within sight, it’s the second morning that we awakened to find out that the boat wasContinue reading “Moment by moment discovery”
Belize
We all traveled to San Pedro in the Ambergris Cays: the kids and Ori took a flight to Belize City and Oz, with a crew member, called Nacho, sailed from Mexico. It took them about a week from Isla Mujeres to San Pedro. It took us 4 hours to Belize City and a couple moreContinue reading “Belize”
Cozumel is nice
Actually Cozumel is wonderful. We have good weather to anchor west of the island, just off from Capitania del Puerto. We are clearing out of Mexico and sailing south. Troy heads home. Nacho and I sail on. We’ll get our Zarpe. A formal marine departure document.
Depart Isla Mujeres for Cozumel
Today we (Oz, Troy and Nacho) will depart Isla Mujeres (for good?) and sail to Cozumel. Oz has messaged with our friend Issac and we can stay at his mooring for two nights. Nice! We’ll have an easy sail with north wind in the morning veering to east later. less than 10 knots. We mayContinue reading “Depart Isla Mujeres for Cozumel”
Sailing the Yucatan Channel
We have arrived back on the boat, mid.December.2022 and finished the refit. Andreas, a local sailor, helped me immensely. We fixed the three diesel engines, the four heads, raised the sails, extended the electrical system (including multiple ammeters). (Why do we need multiple ammeters? We have six sources of energy to change the batteries, andContinue reading “Sailing the Yucatan Channel”
